Idolatry

It is one of the Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai by Jehovah that worshipping idols is a sin. In mormon doctrine, worshipping idols or false gods is defined as placing anything in front of the Lord in priority in one’s life. This means if one puts his job, her looks, his reputation, or her income before following the Lord’s commandments, he or she is committing the sin of idolatry. One great thing about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is the mormon doctrine of applying teachings to one’s own life. We are told to liken the scriptures to ourselves and examine our own lives.
