Mormon Reformation

After the Saints had settled in the Salt Lake Valley, Brigham Young and a few others felt that many of the Saints had become slothful and lax in their living the gospel. They decided to have a revival of sorts. This period of mormon history is called by some scholars the Mormon Reformation. Fiery sermons were preached to call the people to repentance. Standards were raised and those who resisted the reformation often left both the Church and the area. The Mormon Reformation is a little-known area of mormon history and should be studied some more to offer insight into life in the West.
